The Government on Friday assured the victims who came out describing their narrative of sexual harassment at the hands of people they worked with, that a committee will be constituted which will look into these matters.
The Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi said that the committee will include senior judicial and legal persons who will look into the matters pertaining to sexual harassment. As stated in the statement published on the Ministry’s official Twitter account, the committee will also look into the “legal and institutional framework which is in place for handling complaints” and will “advise” WCD on how to strengthen the framework for the same.

In another statement, Menaka Gandhi stated that “We have prepared a comprehensive self-training video to help working women and men, as well as employers, understand the nuances of the Act.” She also mentioned that her Ministry has zero tolerance towards sexual harassment in the workplace.
She urged women facing harassment at the workplace to tweet out to her ministry’s official Twitter account, with their grievances, with a hashtag HelpmeWCD. Apart from this, a dedicated platform ‘She-Box’ will be made, where women can directly report their grievances.
#METOO storm hit India for the second time this year, with more and more women going public about their experiences of sexual harassment at the hands of the people they have been professionally involved with.
